Our Baby is 2 years old now, Since we got him I noticed his poop wasn’t the same as our girl who is a year older. when we took him into the vet he said right away he has allergies to his food which at the time was science diet for puppies. which I have been using with our female for over a year without any problems. it was recommend by friend who lets just say she is obsessed with frienchie she has 6! also my vet is a huge fan of anything science diet.
Our vet suggested Prescription Diet i/d Digestive Care. After 3 days on this food I started seeing a lot more BLOOD in his poop, I called the vet right away. He said I needed to give him time to get use to the food. After 2 months on this new food I saw him getting worse and now started struggling to poop. Im sure this food is great but for what he had this wasn’t helping but making it worse. so I turned to blogs and research on google, don’t we all!
First thing I found was adding Pumpkin ( Ill list all the ones I tried) into his already food, which I thought was a good idea because the vet thought this was the best food for him. I saw his poop get firmer and the blood wasn’t as much, but it was still on and off.
They Both absolutely love these
I decide to do a a food elimination trial. The basic list of a food trial is this: You work with your veterinarian to choose a prescription hypoallergenic diet for your dog. and then after you slowly transition your dog to the new food over three to five days, you will feed only that food for eight to 10 weeks. That means that nothing else other than the hypoallergenic food will go in your dog’s mouth—no other treats, table food, flavored medications or chews, etc. Your dog must consume only that food.
veterinarians diet trials included:
After all his diet trials I gave up hope in making our baby better. At his dog training the trainer saw him poop blood and he asked me what food I was giving him. He said all bulldogs have so many allergies, have you tried Natural Balance L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets Lamb & Brown Rice Formula Dry Dog Food . His English bulldog also suffered from bleeding, and this food completely stopped it. Honestly I was skeptical because he was a dog trainer and my vet has over 20 years of experience, but my husband said we should just try it out.
AFTER THE 7th DAY the blood was completely gone. I was beyond grateful for his advice my dog was so much more playful, he was a new dog. It Been little over 13 months on this food and he has not bleed once. I actually have both dogs on this same food now! we are using pumpkin once a week they love it and it so good for them!
